Sook-Yin Lee
Sook-Yin Lee loves a good story. The musician, filmmaker, actor and radio and TV broadcaster fronted the art-rock band, Bob's Your Uncle before embarking on a solo career. The former MuchMusic VJ hosts the salon-style radio show Definitely Not the Opera on CBC Radio 1. Her award-winning short films have screened internationally and Sook-Yin stars in the adventurous comedy, Shortbus, directed by John Cameron Mitchell which premiered at the Festival de Cannes 2006. She wrote, directed and acted in The Brazilian, a chapter in the movie Toronto Stories. Year of the Carnivore is Sook-Yin Lee's feature film screenplay and directorial debut. She's developing her second movie, an atmospheric ghost story Ferrera is Dead. Each week Sook-Yin has the pleasure and honour of introducing a wealth of wonderful personal stories gathered from across Canada and featured on DNTO.
