Barney Morin

Barney Morin is a bilingual comedian from Otterburne, Manitoba who now calls St Boniface in Winnipeg home. He independently released his first comedy album in February 2025 called “Franglais en Coton,” an exploration of what it means to grow up with two first languages. He’s written three original comedy shows for the Winnipeg Fringe Festival, “Canadian Guide to La Vie,” “A Very Serious Night with Barney Morin,” and “Another Very Serious Night.” He’s been lucky to connect with his culture with the creation of “The Life of Louis Riel” in 2019 for Winterlude in Ottawa. He played a jovial truck driver in the French drama series “El Toro”. He was the host of a Métis YouTube series called “Minut Michif” and he voices “Phil” in the Radio Canada animated kids series “La Brigade,” that’s in its 3rd season. Barney represented his parents’ hometowns of Otterburne and St Malo with original stand-up about the towns for CBC’s “Tournée 150.” Across the pond in Caen, France Barney co-wrote and starred in a travelling show “Histoire des vies contées,” that consider peace through the lens of citizens from France, Canada and Burkina Faso. He was also touted as an avant-guard type player in the French improv league “LIM: Ligue de Improvisation du Manitoba”.
