Aisha Brown
Toronto based stand-up comedian Aisha Brown is also a CSA nominated writer, actress, and extremely casual satirical rapper who recently released her comedy special on Crave; First Black Woman Ever; recorded at Montreal’s renowned Just For Laughs Festival, where she's also been a featured performer on Kevin Hart’s LOL Network and The Comedy Network’s All Access Special. Aisha’s writing extends beyond what she’s performed on stage, as she’s also written for Baroness Von Sketch, This Hour has 22 Minutes, New Eden, The Beaverton, the 2018 and 2019 Just For Laughs Galas, and the 2019 Canadian Screen Awards. She’s also been a featured performer on This Hour has 22 Minutes, The Beaverton, Baroness Von Sketch, Love After Anne, and the CBC web-series Terrific Women; as well as a writer-performer for CBC radio’s The Debaters, Because News, and Day 6. Aisha , along with two other comedians, was featured in the 2017 TVO documentary Stand-Up Toronto, about up and coming POC comics in the GTA. Other festival’s she’s performed at include: Montreal Sketchfest, JFL42, the Field Trip Festival, the Kitchener-Waterloo Comedy Festival, and the Guelph Comedy Festival. In 2016 she was named one of The Torontoist’s “Local Ladies Who Make Us Laughâ€, and won “Female Breakout Comic of the Yearâ€, at the I Heart Jokes Awards. Aisha’s also recorded two albums with Toronto based comedy hip-hop collective, Runnin’ at The Mouth for Comedy Records.
