Nicaraguan born Martha Chaves begun her life in Canada as a refugee and now is thriving in Canadian Show business. The Canadian Comedy Awards gave her the award for Best Stand-up Comic in Canada in 2018, and she's the first immigrant to receive that award. Martha has performed at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and Montreal’s Just For Laughs multiple times, as well as all the other major comedy festivals in Canada.
Her infectious, candid style, and her natural ability to relate to a wide range of audiences, makes her a popular headliner comedian at clubs, colleges, festivals, fundraisers, and corporate functions. Her versatility has also brought her all over the world and to entertain specific audiences – including Canadian Peacekeeping Troops in Alert, Egypt, Israel, and Afghanistan. She went to Mexico and Central America as a delegate-entertainer of the Nobel Women Initiative, led by Nobel Peace Prize Award Winners.
In 2018, Martha was MC for the Egale Identity Gala and performed for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
