David Pryde
David Pryde is a Montreal comic whose humor is often called “cerebralâ€, a word which he hasn’t looked up but assumes means “hilariousâ€. He has performed comedy in the USA, the U.K. and Australia, as well as in festivals across Canada including the Halifax Comedy Festival, Winnipeg Comedy Festival, and multiple appearances at Just for Laughs, most recently at this past summer’s gala hosted by Jay Baruchel. He also enjoyed 14 seconds of fame telling a joke on the “Pass the Mic†segment of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He recently received his third Canadian Comedy Award nominations, adding up to two for Best Male Stand-up and one for Best Newcomer (not in that order). David is a versatile writer, having contributed to (and gotten paid by) This Hour Has 22 Minutes, The Onion, and the Just for Laughs XXX Ultimate Nasty Show where he wrote jokes for Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. He’s appeared in the film Barney’s Version with Paul Giamatti and regularly performs on CBC Radio’s hit comedy series, The Debaters. There is also a 37% chance you’ve seen him as a probability-spouting actuary on a series of successful commercials for Standard Life. David lives in Montreal where he has had two children with a lovely Australian. To date this has been his best career move.
