Join us this summer! August 21-28

In light of ever-unfolding COVID-19 developments, organizers of the Winnipeg Comedy Festival are rescheduling the festival to August 21-28, 2020.

“We had a great festival lined up for the end of April, but now’s the time for the community to come together by remaining apart,” says Artistic Director Dean Jenkinson. “It’s our hope we can physically come together to laugh in a few months.”

Gala tapings for CBC Television will take place August 24, 25, and 26 at Club Regent Event Centre. Hit CBC Radio show The Debaters will stage a live taping at a date and location to be confirmed.  A revised schedule of other festival events will be announced in the coming weeks.

The talent roster is expected to remain intact, with as few changes as possible.

Executive Director Nick Kowalchuk says the Festival is grateful to all the sponsors, staff, artists, volunteers, and its production partner Frantic Films – as well as Winnipeg’s amazing comedy fans – for their continued support.

“We’re looking forward to bringing some great comedy shows to Winnipeggers just as soon as we are safely able to.”

Now in its 19th year, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival was the brainchild of Lara Rae and CBC Radio's Tom Anniko, who worked in partnership with the Gas Station Arts Centre to bring the first festival to life in 2002. Since then, nearly 100 hours of primetime WCF galas have aired on CBC TV, bringing Canadian comedians national TV exposure, and international exposure online.
