Simon Rakoff has been performing stand-up since 1978. Considered one of the quickest minds on the scene, Simon is a veteran who performs with the enthusiasm of a newcomer. He is widely regarded as one of comedy’s top acts and has headlined shows from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland. His act has also taken him to the United Sates and England.
Simon’s act is carefully crafted and full of thought-provoking, hilarious routines. Among other topics, it covers religion, relationships, stupidity and man in the modern world. All this is combined with ad-libbing abilities second to none.
On television, Simon has appeared on all the major festivals including Just for Laughs, The Winnipeg Comedy Festival and the Halifax Comedy Festival. He has also done sets on numerous variety shows and had his own special on CBC. He was also a regular contributor of humorous commentary on the CBC Evening News. Simon is a popular voice on CBC Radio on shows like The Debaters, As It Happens, LOL and Definitely Not the Opera as well as a holiday special with original songs. Most recently, Simon was also featured in the award-winning documentary, When Jews Were Funny.
